Happy Friday!  I hope everyone is ready for Halloween!  It seems this weeks fill in the blanks are inspired by the holiday.  Link up and see at the little things we do.

  1. When I was a kid I wanted to be a mom when I grew up.  I went through phases of other things, teachers, business woman, doctor, etc.  But no matter what I wanted to do as a profession I was always still a mom.
  2. As an adult my dream job would be, in addition to a mom, a professional organizer.  I love to get a spaced organized and design methods to maintain organization, and it would be awesome to get paid for that.
  3. When I was Younger I wanted to be just like my mom.
  4. The child hood Halloween costume that I remember most was when I was a prom queen before the prom.  When I was little I did not enjoy frilly things, but my mom and I came up with a costume idea to be the before picture of a prom queen.  I wore a bath robe, curlers in my hair, a face mask, and painted half my nails.  I really enjoyed it, but my mom told me when I was older that some of the neighbors thought I was dressed as an ex-wife, so I’m not sure if I totally recommend the costume now.
  5. My favorite childhood toy was baby Richard.  I loved dolls (see questions #1). I found this doll I really wanted, but it was expensive.  I made a deal with my parents that if I saved half the money they would pay the other half.  When I finally got the doll I used a baby name book my mom had to pick the name, and decided it was a boy.  I named him Richard.  Just in case your wondering, yes I still have the doll.
  6. The time I got into the biggest amount of trouble when I was a kid was when I would be mean to my sister.  I can’t remember anything else specific that I did as a young kid.  But I know I picked on my sister and got in trouble pretty regularly.
  7. I get daily inspiration from friends, family, co-workers, pinterest, blogs, and my amazing husband!
Happy Halloween and Happy Friday!

Halloween Decorations

I love Halloween.  It is one of my favorite holidays.  It helps that my birthday is November 1st, but the main reason is I will use any excuse to dress up!  Bond and I have an annual Halloween Birthday Bash the weekend of or before Halloween.  Costumes are a requirement.  A few unlucky people have shown up without one in the past, the punishment… I put a costume on them at the door.  I have a trunk of costumes I have collected over the years and I selected one, or parts of several, and you are stuck wearing it the rest of the party.

This year Bond and I are going as ‘Mad Men’.  He will be decked out as Don Draper, and I will be the early 60’s house wife, dressed for a night on the town of course!

I have been am decorating for Halloween and the party this week.  I decided to try a new decoration that is the combination of two things I found on Pinterest.  Here’s what you need…

Pumpkins  (I needed 3)

Thumb tacks in the color of your choice (I used red and white, Boomer Sooner!)

First, I stacked the pumpkins.  It is important to make sure they are stacked sturdy and with a good surface facing out on each.  Then using a pencil trace the letters onto each pumpkin.  They don’t have to be perfect.  I made several adjustments along the way.  Start to place the tacks along the lines and correct the shapes as you go.

Then I took them to the front porch, restacked, and decorated with cob webs.

What is your favorite Halloween decoration?

What I'm Loving Wednesday

Happy Wednesday!  I am finally getting around to my post, but better late than never.  Busy week with lots of work and fun... here is what I'm loving...

I'm loving... Revenge on ABC.  It is my favorite new show this fall!  if you haven't seen it I recommending watching it from the beginning online.

I'm loving... This great dress I got at white house black market.  I don't love the styling in this picture (mainly the shoes).  I got a great black stretch belt to go with it!  It looks great with my black and white suit jacket so I can also wear it to work.

I'm loving... That I get to wear my new dress tomorrow night to an event where my husband is one of the 30 under 30 being honored.  It is the inaugural 30 under 30 next generation award by iOn Oklahoma.

I'm loving... My wonderful husband.  I am so proud of him for being nominated and chosen for the 30 under 30 next gen award.  Here is a picture of the whole 30 under 30 group with the Governor of Oklahoma...

And another cute pic of Bond and I in Napa Valley...

Halloween is just around the corner

Halloween is my favorite holiday.  Mostly because it is also when I celebrate my November 1st birthday.  I also happen to be a card nut and really enjoy sending cards for untraditional card holidays.  When the two come together you get this...

I know it is super cheesy, but my wonderful friend Corinne, who is getting into photography (and is really good at it obviously) took these great pics of the dogs!

I uploaded the photos at Wal-Mart's photo department, added one of Bond and I from last years halloween party to make a super cute card for all friends and family!

Happy Halloween

The Hunger Games

My series book club met yesterday to discuss The Hunger Games. We were originally going to discuss just the first book, but ended up discussing the entire series because everyone had read all three books already.  It is a very quick read, but I could not put it down.

I have been describing it as Brave New World meets Lord of the Flies.  But I liked it much more than both of those books.  It is told from the point of view of Katniss, a girl that volunteers to be in the hunger games to save her younger sister.  It is set in a future time when North America has become “Panem” consisting of a Capitol and 12 districts. The hunger games are essentially a reality show where teenagers from each of the 12 districts are selected and forced to compete against each other gladiator style to the death.  The games and starvation are how the Capitol maintains control over the districts.

There are a lot of good characters and discussion points so it translated well for a book club.  I highly recommend it, but read all three and then discuss, much better that way!

Next this club is going to start A Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin.  It is a four book series.

It comes highly recommended by my sister-in-law, but the first book A Song of Fire and Ice, is pretty long, so we won’t be meeting until January.

Stay tuned for updates on this book, as well as my other club which meets later in October.  What have you been reading lately?
